I took a little break to stay in Brooklyn last week, spinning some shows and digging for records – I neglected my website while I was away so here’s a quick summary!
On my first Saturday night out I spun a gig with Brookyln’s highly talented dj Sticky Dojah, alongside recent english import Khalil from London’s Livin’ Proof crew.
In a previous blogpost I mentioned I had a gig spinning at NYC’s premier all-vinyl 45’s night Mobile Mondays at the Electric Bowery, that was one dope gig! Above is a pic from the end of the night with residents Just Blaze, Natasha Diggs, MsBehaviour and guest Sticky Dojah.
The very next night I spun a gig at The Commodore alongside Brooklyn’s DJ Monster & DJ Dilemma
On Wednesday night I once again joined Sticky Dojah on the 1s and 2s, dropping another all-vinyl 45’s set at his residency ‘Wax Wednesdays’ at the very dope ‘Baby’s All Right’ club.
On the Thursday I had a 20 minute TV interview in Harlem with these guys Denden and Kinnard for the dj-based cable show ‘On The Table’
On Friday me and Khalil caught up with one of my favourite djs J-Rocc of the world famous Beat Junkie crew, who killed it on the turntables as always.
On my last day I checked out the Bushwick Collective BBQ, admist a sprawling backdrop of fresh artwork lining the walls of a few closed -off streets, I also caught a live set from the one and only Fat Joe (pictured).
My daytimes mainly consisted of drinking coffee & fresh juices, eating burritos and seeking out the city’s best vinyl spots such as the one above: ‘Superior Elevation’ in Bushwick. I returned with a fresh heap of 45s, to be turned into a fresh mixtape soon!
